TRAUMA: a group exhibition
closing reception Saturday afternoon March 30, 12-4pm
a deeply distressing or disturbing experience.
Origin, late 17th century: from Greek, literally ‘wound’
With TRAUMA, curator and gallery owner Kimberly Oliva gathers an unprecedented amount of artists in the history of her gallery. This exhibition’s work is to acknowledge one’s wounds, by broadening the conversation from a strictly individual standpoint, so that we remember the collective nature of trauma. In conjunction with International Women’s Day, gallery curator Kimberly Oliva features 25 artists: trauma had to be collective. The body of work explores trauma through various practices and media: painting, photography, sculpture and mixed-media installations.
TRAUMA will run from March 8th to March 30th with an opening reception on International Women’s day, March 8th 2019 from 5-10pm. During the 3 weeks of the exhibition, Oliva Gallery will be hosting a series of workshops engaging with traumas and facilitated by artists (visit our website & social media soon for details).
